One of the best debut albums of 2017 came from Bedouine, the project of Syrian-born and Los Angeles-based folk singer Azniv Korkejian. Released by Spacebomb Records earlier in the year, it’s remained one of my favorite albums of the whole year.

On November 16 Bedouine made her debut New York performance at Joe’s Pub in an intimate setting that was well suited for her music, aside from the busy wait staff running around the venue. It was just her and her acoustic guitar and although the album benefits from some big-time arrangements, the stripped-down nature suited the songs equally as well.

Almost all of the album was played (minus “Summer Cold” and “Heart Take Flight”) as well as a few new songs that already sound ready to go, including one that she asked for the crowd to help her with giving it a title – with “Wildflower,” being the favorite, although one woman’s recommendation of “Netflix and Chill” wasn’t too far off either. She also spread out the setlist and encore with a few songs that just missed making the cut of the record, but based on how strong they were, let’s hope they get a proper release somewhere down the line.

Find some more photos from her performance posted below, along with the setlist.
