As smoking is being systematically snuffed out of the music scene, vaping is dancing on in. While some concert venues may have strict rules that limit or ban vaping, others can be pretty laid back. Just because you’re free to vape anywhere at any time during a concert or music festival, however, doesn’t mean you want to be a jerk about it. Poor vaping etiquette doesn’t just reflect badly on you, but it paints the entire vaping community in a negative light.

Follow these concert vaping etiquette tips and you won’t have to worry about being a nuisance, at least with your vape.

Don’t Spew Vape Clouds in People’s Faces

Spewing vape clouds in other people’s faces is the top complaint about vapers at musical events. While you don’t have to go hide behind the port-a-potty, or even head to the designated smoking area in some cases, you should still be courteous to those around you.

A crowded concert venue where you’re smashed shoulder-to-shoulder with everyone around you is not the time or place to show off your killer vape clouds. Stepping out of the crowd to vape is the most polite option. Being discreet is another.

Practice Stealth Vaping Techniques

Stealth vaping involves being as low-key as possible while vaping. The best stealth vapers will have honed their craft so precisely that folks around them may not even realize any vaping is going on.

Standard stealth vaping techniques include:

  • Reducing the battery power: Many vaping batteries are adjustable, and you can scale down the level to scale down the vapor production.

  • Inhaling and holding before exhale: The longer you hold the vapor in your lungs, the less visible it will be upon exhaling. Exhaling through your nose is less obvious than exhaling through your mouth.

  • Exhaling covertly: Instead of exhaling openly into the air, try exhaling into a napkin, tissue, bandana, or the cuff or sleeve of your long-sleeved shirt.

If you like the standard stealth vaping techniques enough to make stealth vaping a habit, you can also try a couple advanced techniques:

  • Increasing PG to VG ratio in e-juice: PG provides the throat hit, while VG gives you the big, fat vape clouds. Most e-liquids come with 50/50 ratio of PG/VG, but you can increase the PG to decrease the cloud production.

  • Choosing a less intrusive e-liquid flavor: Exceedingly sweet dessert blends and intensely robust tobacco blends may be detected by their aroma. Stick with a lighter and brighter blend, like Black Note Prelude, or menthol, like Black Note Solo.

Follow the Rules

Even if you think you can get away with stealth vaping in venues that are obvious vape-free zones, you’re best off waiting until you can vape openly. Head to the smoking area and vape away openly to your delight.

Vaping at concerts and music festivals can add another layer of relaxation and pleasure to the experience. These concert vaping etiquette tips can help ensure you and those around you truly enjoy the show.
