All The Luck In The World are three Irish songwriters, Neil Foot, Ben Connolly and Kelvin Barr, who are currently based out of Berlin. The trio is gearing up for the release of their new album A Blind Arcade and has recently shared its powerful single “Contrails.”

Rooted in some classic elements of folk rock that starts off with a gentle emotive hum, it soon blossoms into something even grander. There’s a fragility to it all that gives a raw personal connection that rings true throughout. It didn’t surprise me to read this thoughtful description from the band themselves about the origins of the song:

Contrails was one of the first songs we started working on for this record. We were demoing it as early as Summer 2014, but it ended up taking a while to finish, as we had a few versions with variations on the lyrics. The lyrical framework for the song came about as a result of us giving some time to the thought that peoples lives often cross paths in such arbitrary situations, and that meaningful connections can occur even in seemingly fleeting moments. We thought about the idea of mapping the trajectory of peoples lives, and how these chance encounters would be little intersections in these paths, and that’s sort of what got us thinking about how it looks when the contrails of planes cross paths in the sky. That and the fact that we had written some verses about being in an airport made us think it felt like a nice title.

Enjoy “Contrails” below and you can pre-order the album on iTunes.
