This year New Zealand singer-songwriter Marlon Williams returned with his sophomore album Make Way for Love via Dead Oceans. He brought the album to New York for a performance at Music Hall of Williamsburg on March 27.

Williams’ voice recalls old-school crooners of the 50s/60s giving this classic style a fresh spin that he makes very much his own. Hearing him live it really makes me wonder why he isn’t ten times bigger than he already is but getting to see him at a room like MHOW is certainly quite alright with me. Williams stretched out his setlist with a few covers, included John Lennon’s “Jealous Guy” and Teddy Randazzo’s “Lost Without You.”
