With this announcement comes first single “Handsome.” The band released it’s goofy music video today (directed by Gerson Aguerri), and it features the band in their own old school kung fu movie. As for the song itself, it’s a fully charged rock song with all the pop-hooks and guitars riffs that we’ve come to expect from The Vaccines. The formula isn’t breaking any grounds, but it sounds damn good.
I still remember sitting in my mom’s car as she picked up our pizza pie to go as I anxiously unwrapped my copy of Phoenix’s new album It’s Never Been Like That on CD. This was back in 2006 (I was 15), when CD’s were still a thing. Still at that age I read music blogs and remembered discovering “Sometimes In The Fall” on one and instantly falling in love with this French band that I had a hard time finding stuff about on google. Eventually I traced them back to Lost In Translation, and next thing you know, I had all their material. So seeing their amazing ascent to the top in 2009 with Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix was truly a pleasure. I’ve now been lucky enough to see them rock venues all over the place, and last night I got to photograph them in the photo pit of Barclays freaking Center. Surreal to say the least. The Vaccines stopped by BBC Radio1’s Live Lounge and performed their single “Teenage Icon” (listen to audio here). Bands usually choose a song to cover for their Live Lounge sessions, and The Vaccines went the pop route, choosing to cover Taylor Swift’s ” We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”. Yeah.
It’s totally tongue in cheek and pretty much sounds as described. Guess they had fun with it.
Last week The Vaccines released a new EP titled Please, Please Do Not Disturb as a free download on their site. The EP features 4 covers that the band recorded in various hotel rooms while on tour throughout Eastern Europe.
On the EP they cover: “The Beast In Me†by Nick Lowe, “Mannequin†by Wire, “That Summer Feeling†by Jonathan Richman and “The Winner Takes It All†by ABBA. I had been meaning to finally share this, so this post is for you if you happened to miss this. If not, continue on then.
Missed The Vaccines new video “No Hope” while I was at Bonnaroo. The band has just revealed the album art for their new album The Vaccines Come Of Age, which “No Hope” is featured on. Find the video below along with the album’s tracklist.
The Vaccines have announced that they will release a new album this year. The album is titled, The Vaccines Come Of Age, and it’s the quick follow-up to last years debut album. The album was recorded at the ICP studios in Brussels and Distiller in Bath with producer Ethan Johns.
The first single from the album is titled “No Hope” and it’s currently available to stream. At 4 minutes it’s one of the bands longest songs to date, and it signals what may be a more mature version of the band, only one year older. Justin’s vocals sound more lo-fi, which fits the feel of the new song.
The new album will be released on September 4 via Columbia Records. Stream “No Hope” below.

Watch The Vaccines perform a new song called “No Hope” live at their recent show at Brixton Academy. The guys never seem to stop releasing new material. I’m not complaining.
Watch the performance below.
The band also has a new song called “Tuck & Roll” that they included on their “Tiger Blood” single (it was also on “All In White”). It’s available purchase on iTunes here). Take a listen of a stream below.
