Burial Shares Image Of Himself & Note

By Will Oliver, February 4th 2014

Burial

We’ve seen a photo of the usually mysterious Burial before, but never got a really good look. Last week Burial (whose real name is Will) changed that, releasing a very clear selfie along with a note on Hyperdub were he gives his fans a bit of an update on what’s to come.

The note reads:

Hi this is will, I just want to say thank you to anyone out there who liked my burial tunes & supported me over the years. its really appreciated. Massive thank you anyone who got my records & all producers, DJs, radio stations, labels, shops, writers & journalists.. anyone who played my tunes, gave them a listen, or helped me out with it, made me want to keep going with it. Also shout out anyone who sent me tunes, messages, anyone I met along the way & a big shout out to anyone who supports or does independent & underground music.

I want to do some new tunes this year to send to my boss Steve and the label because they’ve been going 10 years now and have stuck by me. Hopefully by the end of most years I have done some tunes that are decent enough to release. but Dark Souls 2 is on the horizon soon so I’m not sure if I will have many new tunes for a while because I need to play that game a lot. But I’m going to try to get some new tunes together before it comes out.

Also I want to go and find some old tunes I did that still sound alright and never came out.. It would be nice to finally put some of them out on vinyl one day.

Also I want to tell my Mum my Dad my brothers and my sister that I love them to bits. Big shout out to the UK & everywhere else. Cheers & respect to everyone and anyone…be safe & take care
Will

The future is looking bright for Burial fans.

By Will Oliver, December 14th 2012

Burial-Truant-Rough-Sleeper

UK super producer Burial has released a new single, following his much acclaimed Kindred EP from earlier in the year. It features two new songs titled “Rough Sleeper” & “Traunt.”

Both are deep emotional material that twist your mind into a different mindset than which you began with, with a relative darkness that hovers like a shadow.

They’re now available to buy now from Hyperdub.

Burial + Four Tet – Nova

By Will Oliver, March 9th 2012 — with 1 comment

Burial + Four Tet have teamed up for a new track called “Nova”. It brings the best of both of their worlds creating a stunning track that breaths emotional transport through moments of electronic bliss. It’s more sincere than any crap the radio is feeding you, and that’s the truth.

This isn’t the first time the duo has teamed up. About a year ago they released two tracks with Thom Yorke called “Ego” & “Mirror”.

[new] Burial – NYC

By Will Oliver, March 25th 2011 — with 1 comment

Yesterday we heard “Street Halo” & “Stolen Dog” from Burial’s upcoming “Street Halo” 12″, and now “NYC” has crept online. It’s a seven and a half minute long jam that makes every second count. It breathes cold dark air into your room. It’s a track that takes it time to get you where it’s headed. Slow & steady, playing out like a long subway ride from Brooklyn to Midtown at 4am when you’re already hungover and reaching for your bed.

“NYC” is really speaking to me at 1am. I don’t know how Burial does it. He’s done it yet again. The Street Halo 12″ is one hell of a release.

[new] Burial – Street Halo + Stolen Dog

By Will Oliver, March 24th 2011 — with 1 comment

Burial is releasing a new single titled “Street Halo” on March 28th via Hyperdub. It’s also features two b-sides, “NYC” and “Stolen Dog”.

BBC Radio 1 DJ Benji B played “Street Halo”, as well as “Stolen Dog” on his show last night. Both songs are dense, dark and atmospheric; exactly what you expect from him. He’s able to create such a moody atmosphere through his music. His stuff digs deep into your soul, hitting your emotional core. Both songs are phenomenal. He’s truly in a league of his own.

It’s the first new Burial in nearly three years, and Burial fans can all agree that it was well worth the wait. You can stream radio rips (Pretty great quality, even with the DJ’s talking over the song) of both songs below. The 12″ is available to pre-order at Bleep right now.

[Listen] Burial, Four Tet, & Thom Yorke – Ego & Mirror

By Will Oliver, March 16th 2011 — with 3 comments

Thom Yorke, Burial, and Four Tet came together with plans to release a 12″ with two songs: “Ego” & “Mirror”. Both songs were played on Rinse FM earlier tonight and of course, links have spread like wildfire.

All three artists have become mainstays in the experimental music world, and expectations for this release are understandably high. Both songs deliver on their promise, providing listeners with sophistacted electronica that perfectly suites Mr. Yorke’s dreamy vocals. It’s a match made in heaven.

The 12″ will be released on Monday via Bleep, Four Tet’s record label. Pre-orders sold out immediately, but there’s still a chance to buy it at Bleep’s website when it comes out on Monday.
