Dent May – 2099

By Will Oliver, December 26th 2012

Dent May 2099

Dent May became inspired to write “2099” after all the talk about the world ending on 12/21. Since you’re reading this, it didn’t, so it’s good to know. Here’s what Dent had to say about the song:

“Everybody’s talking about the end of the world. A lot of people are pessimistic about the future of mankind. My take is that this is just the beginning for us, and there’s a lot of love left to spread throughout the universe. ‘2099’ goes out to my fellow dreamers who plan to stick around into the next millennium.

Dent May – Best Friend

By Will Oliver, April 18th 2012 — with 1 comment

Somewhere during my spring break, I forgot to share Dent May’s new single, “Best Friend”. It’s off his upcoming album Do Things, which will be released on Paw Tracks on June 12.

“Best Friend” recaptures the sunny feel good harmonies of acts like The Beach Boys, tailor made for sunny summer days.

May also just did a mix for Ad Hoc titled Escape From Groove Mountain. Download/stream that below.

Dent May – That Feeling

By Will Oliver, July 6th 2010

Well look at that, another post about an upcoming Forest Family Records release. If they keep giving us great recordings, I’ll keep posting about them.

The next announced release from the FFR headquarters is from Mississippi artist, Dent May. “That Feeling” takes the best parts of The Beach Boys adding a modern flavor to it. It’s hard to argue against the Beach Boys comparisons when you hear the 60’s beach inspired harmonies.

Point being, “That Feeling” is a song that is spitting out summer vibes at full force. The timing of this track is perfect. I welcome it into my summer listening with open arms. Grab it below:

“That Feeling” will be released as a 7″ on Forest Family Records along with b-side “Eastover Wives” in August. Both will be included on Dent May’s next album, which will released by Animal Collective label, Paw Tracks.

[new]: Mac DeMarco – Passing Out Pieces | Announces New Album: Salad Days

Mac DeMarco

Mac DeMarco has official shared that his new album is (indeed) titled Salad Days. It’s out April 1 via Captured Tracks.

Along with the official announcement, he’s shared the album’s first single “Passing Out Pieces.” The synth-led direction that his live performance in Brooklyn hinted at is very much so on the new song, in the best way possible.

The signature Mac sound is still very much there, but just re-imagined with a new spiced up vision that’s vivid and exciting. It’s also more mature.

“Passing Out Pieces” is posted below. Hit the jump for the Salad Days tracklist and Mac’s new tour dates. Read the rest of this entry »

Favorite Concert Photos Of 2013

Arctic Monkeys @ Ogden Theater

By no means am I a professional photographer. I don’t pretend to be. I know I have a lot of work and learning to do to improve and get better. But thanks to this blog, I’ve gotten better at it than I ever imagined I would be when I first started it five years ago.

I went to a lot of shows this year, and took a lot of shots. So many, that it would seem like a waste if I didn’t compile some of the best ones for your viewing pleasure.

I also added some of my favorite shots from some of our new team of contributing photographers, Andrew St. ClairDana Pacifico, Daniel Topete and Leah Runyon. All photos without a photo credit were taken by yours truly.

With that said, enjoy some of the favorite shots that appeared on We All Want Someone in 2013. Here’s to more great shots in 2014. Read the rest of this entry »
