Fiona Maude

The Sweetheart compilation is a Valentine’s Day compilation that Hear Music will release on February 4, and will only be in stores to purchase at Starbucks. The compilation features many great artists covering some classic love songs.

We already heard Vampire Weekend and Beck’s contributions. Now we get one from Fiona Apple, who teams up with her sister Maude Maggart to cover Anton Jaras’ “I’m In The Middle Of A Riddle.”

It’s available to stream below via The Wall Street Journal.

Fiona Apple

Fiona Apple has covered “Pure Imagination” from the classic film Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory for a special campaign video from Chipotle about factory farming.

It’s a touching video for many reasons, especially with Apple’s really heartfelt cover of the song that dominated so many of our childhoods. It’s great. To read more about the cause, head over here. The cover is posted below.

[music video]: Fiona Apple – Hot Knife

By Will Oliver, July 26th 2013

Screen Shot 2013-07-26 at 4.13.55 PM

Fiona Apple has gone quiet since the release of last year’s The Idler Wheel. She returned this week with a brand new music video for “Hot Kinfe”, a track off The Idler Wheel.

This video is a big deal, because it’s directed by acclaimed director Paul Thomas Anderson (Boogie Nights, There Will Be Blood, The Master), who just happens to be Fiona’s ex-boyfriend. Why not?

So who better for the job than an ex-boyfriend who is also a skilled director? Anderson creates the most  personal video possible. He also includes her sister Maude Maggart, who also sings on the song. It’s a simple but well done video that is a credit to all the great artists involved.

Watch below.

Fiona Apple has given a new song that she wrote for Judd Apatow’s new film This Is 40. It’s called “Dull Tool”, and focuses on a lot of relationship issues, which should go perfect with the film (which looks great).

Fiona Apple @ Governors Ball (June 24, 2012)

By Will Oliver, June 27th 2012

Growing up, I heard so much about Fiona Apple. However, she always seemed like a mere phantom. A prolific name but one that hadn’t been around for years. I remember hearing about her meltdown at Roseland, and knew her live reputation was one that could go north or south, in an instant. I went into her set at Governors a little bit nervous, excited, and plenty curious.

Fiona came out dancing with all her might, as awkwardly wonderful as you could imagine. I realized then and there that I lucked out, this was clearly going to be one of her better shows, and from what I saw and heard, it was. Her voice sounded as magical as I hoped it would, and she pulled out all the stops of her illustrious career.

The Idler Wheel standouts, Every Single Night” and “Daredevil”, caught a magical flight, proving their stake as two of the best songs of the year.

Fiona Apple didn’t disappoint. She is no longer a phantom in my eyes. Let’s go with legend instead.

Fiona Apple stopped by Jimmy Fallon to play “Anything We Want” from today’s newly released album The Idler Wheel…, along with a cover of Paul McCartney & Wings’ “Let Me Roll It” in honor of Mr. McCartney’s 70th birthday which was yesterday. Jimmy even comes in to add some vocals at the end. Find both performances along with a brief interview below.
