Last night Levi’s booked Haim and Sleigh Bells as a solid 1-2 punch in celebration of the launch of their Live In Levi’s campaign. The show went down at Brooklyn Bridge Park, and was free to the public (via RSVP), but you had to wear a pair of levi’s denim in order to get in. They scanned our barcodes, and reminded us while we were on line that we needed to be wearing levi’s to get in, but no one actually checked to see if we were upon entry.

Haim Announce Debut Album: Days Are Gone

By Will Oliver, August 8th 2013 — with 1 comment

After many months touring and releasing singles, Haim will finally release their debut album this fall. It will come out September 30 via Polydor/Columbia, and is entitled Days Are Gone.

It will feature 11 tracks, which includes the previously released singles “Falling”, “Forever”, “Don’t Save Me”, and current single, “The Wire.” The album was recorded in their native Los Angeles, and was worked on by producers Ariel Rechtshaid and James Ford. It will be interesting to see what the band can do with a full length, as they’ve played major festivals and been around for many months it seems.

Check out the tracklist for Days Are Gone below.

[new]: Haim – The Wire

By Will Oliver, July 29th 2013

It’s hard to believe the trio of California sisters Haim have yet to release an album. They’ve released a whole bunch of great singles so far, and their new one “The Wire” is another winner. They just released it today.

It starts out with drums that sound straight from The Eagles’ “Heartache Tonight,” as well as other classic rock acts from the 70s. It’s another solid offering from the girls who show that they know a thing or two about taking classic rock ideas and revamping them in their own ways to make something fresh and exciting.

Listen to “The Wire” below.

CHVRCHES – Falling (Haim Cover)

By Will Oliver, July 9th 2013

In what is practically a match made in heaven, CHVRCHES have covered Haim’s “Falling.” The Glasgow band did it when they s stopped by BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge. They give in a electronic spin that gives in a new feel but doesn’t change it’s identity. It’s a fun cover.

Haim @ Governors Ball (June 9, 2013)

By Will Oliver, June 12th 2013

As we impatiently await Haim’s debut album we still have time to enjoy their early days as a rather young band. There’s no doubt in my mind that this trio of sisters are going to explode in the next year or so once that album is released. Even so, they have a pretty incredible run of early singles that are very much impressive. They bring it live with a lot of energy and actually look like they’re having a good time doing it.

Haim are the real deal folks. The sisters put on a solid offering at the packed Cedar Street Courtyard that even saw Pharrell there rocking out.

They still got some stuff to work on live, but when these girls hit their stride, damn. Give them a few years and they will be one of the biggest girl-fronted rock bands in the world.
