[new]: How To Dress Well – Repeat Pleasure

By Will Oliver, April 3rd 2014

How To Dress Well

How To Dress Well has shared a new track called “Repeat Pleasure”, the latest from his newly announced album “What Is This Heart?” The LP is out June 24 via Weird World. This comes after “Words I Don’t Remember.”

“Repeat Pleasure” is a glossy track that showcases Tom Krell’s artistic growth. Well produced and full of emotion, only in a more upbeat poppy manner. “Repeat Pleasure” is an appropriate name, for sure.

Enjoy it below.

How To Dress Well’s new album Total Loss drops September 18 via Acéphale Records. We have heard a few cuts from the album already (“& It Was U” , “Cold Nites”) and now we got another new one called “So Say My Name Or Say Whatever”.

The Belgium station Radio Scorpio played it on their show Sterrenplaten. You can find the show here, and it starts at 30 minutes. It’s another haunting gem that should hit home for r&b lovers everywhere.

This is late night, love-making music for a new generation. It’s hard to argue with that, after one listen to “So Say My Name Or Say Whatever”.

[new]: How To Dress Well – & It Was U

How To Dress Well has released “& It Was U” for free download via NPR. As they correctly point out, Tom Krell hits home with r&b groups of the 90s, focused and channeling in on what they did right. One listen and you’ll get flashes of the 90s r&b scene ( if you were around during it). I may have been the result of it…

“& It Was U” will show up on his new album Total Loss, which comes out September 18 via Acéphale Records.

How To Dress Well – Cold Nites

By Will Oliver, July 19th 2012 — with 1 comment

“Cold Nites” is the latest track from How To Dress Well’s new album Total Loss. It’s dramatic as hell r&b that is pretty damn outstanding. Too bad he’s releasing this after Frank Ocean’s album, only cause that’s a tough one to follow in the indie r&b genre.

That’s not to say Tom Krell can’t hold his own, because after one listen to “Cold Nites” you will know that he most certainly can.

Take a listen to “Cold Nites” below and look out for Total Loss which comes out September 18 via Acéphale. Pre-order the album here.

[CMJ]: Active Child @ Glasslands Gallery (10/21/2011)

By Will Oliver, October 23rd 2011

Active Child put on a great performance, but the actual set was very troublesome – though, it wasn’t his fault. It was a long brutal wait, and once he finally got set up, sound problems overshadowed his impressive set.

The set was an impressionable affair of electronic beauty with hints of r&b. The sound problems were persistent enough to distract all parties involved. They never got resolved, eventually causing a furious Pat Grossi to loose his cool threateningly the sound guy with a threat that went something like, “I’m going to throw my fucking harp at your face”.

Things calmed down a bit when he was joined by How To Dress Well who performed a live duet together that immediately lightened the mood. How To Dress Well finished up with a quick solo song, which Active Child surely didn’t mind.

It was a good performance, but Active Child definitely deserves a second watch from every in attendance that night.
