[new]: Black Lips – Justice After All

By Will Oliver, February 17th 2014

Black Lips - Underneath The Rainbow

Black Lips new album Underneath The Rainbow will be delivered March 18 via Vice.

We already heard first single “Boys In The Wood” (and saw its slightly disturbing music video). Now the Atlanta garage rockers have hit back with another album cut, this time it’s the jangly “Justice After All.”

There’s somewhat of a country influence on the track added to their ever-familiar Black Lips sound. Dig in below.

Justice @ Lollapalooza (August 5, 2012)

By Will Oliver, August 10th 2012 — with 1 comment

I have already seen Jack White, and had yet to see Justice so my choice on which heavy headliner to see was made for me. Justice came out and played a loud victorious set that stayed true to the rumors that they were a force live. The crowd, heavy on the E and lite on politeness, could have ruined my enjoyment of the show, but Justice were just too damn electric live to go to ruin.

They weaved in out of songs, using Civilization as a backbone interlude for most of the early portion of their set. The light show was intense, but not as intense as the bass. If more electronic acts were as polished as these two, I would be a lot more into the genre.

Check out a gallery of shots from their set below.

[new]: Justice – Canon // Newlands

By Will Oliver, October 12th 2011

As One Thirty BPM points out, two more new Justice tracks leaked, “Canon” and “Newlands”.

“Canon” is a brass thumping electro banger that sounds very much Justice. “Newlands” stays true to Justice’s promise that there would be a heavy rock influence on the new songs.

Stream both below thanks to our pals at 130:

[new] Justice – Helix

By Will Oliver, September 12th 2011

Here’s more new Audio, Visual, Disco, Justice for you in the form of “Helix”. Stereogum just posted a stream of the track and this is more like it. Solid track all and all. Almost like a mixture of Daft Punk and Ratatat. I think we’re all fine with that.

[new] Justice – Audio, Video, Disco

By Will Oliver, September 3rd 2011 — with 1 comment

Audio, Video, Disco is the name of Justice’s new album. It’s also a title track on the album, and the 2nd single. It leaked and you know what that means.

It’s not the big thunderous stuff that you’d expect from the duo, but I’m sure it sounds fine nice and loud with a little side of alcohol. It’s atmospheric but doesn’t take off like I hoped it would. Not a bad track but it’s lacking a little.

Audio, Video, Disco is out on October 25 via Ed Banger Records.

Justice Announce New Album: Audio, Video, Disco

By Will Oliver, August 9th 2011 — with 1 comment

Mark your calendars. On October 25th Ed Banger Records will release Justice’s new album, Audio, Video, Disco. It’s the long awaited (nearly four years) follow-up to their debut album, †.

Audio, Video, Disco was recorded in 18 months in a Paris flat. In an interview with Pitchfork, the bands very own Xavier de Rosnay gives insight into the new record. Some album titles include: “Parade”, “Ohio”, and “Cannon”. Apparently this new album sounds more rock oriented, which could be a good or bad thing depending what you want from Justice.

“Civilization” is the first official single from the album. Listen to that below. It’s grown on me a lot since I posted it.
