Kanye West at Madison Square Garden (September 5, 2016)

By Will Oliver, November 21st 2016

On September 5 Kanye West kicked off the first of a sold out two-night run at Madison Square Garden for his Saint Pablo Tour. The tour had gotten a lot of initial buzz after his wild floating stage set-up was revealed. The stage hung above fans in general admission, moving back and forth as Kanye hung above them while giving us hit after hit.

The crowd featured fans moshing, dancing, and just going absolutely crazy while the stage hung feet above them. It was unlike anything I’ve ever seen at a show before, and surely one of the most unique stage setups that we will see, maybe until his next show.

Find the setlist posted below, along with some more shots from his performance.

Kanye West - So Help Me Goo

Over the weekend Kanye West revealed that his new album is entitled So Help Me God, and that it’s about 80% complete. Last week he performed a single off the album called “All Day” live at the BRIT Awards, and today he’s released the studio version online.

The studio version features Allan Kingdom and Theophilus London, both adding verses to the track. The song is expertly produced (as you’d expect from Kanye), with a sound that sits somewhere between a My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy track such as “Monster” and a something off Yeezus, say “Black Skinhead.” The last bits of this song are hands down the most interesting, and yes, whistling you hear at the end, that’s credited to Sir Paul McCartney, taken from a track of his called “When The Wind Is Blowing.” This one hits hard.

Stream “All Day” below. It’s also available to purchase on iTunes.

Def Jam Recordings Kanye McCartney

What a better way to start out 2015 than getting to hear a brand new song from Kanye West featuring Paul McCartney. It’s called “Only One,” and it features one of the Fab Four on keyboard.

“Only One” is a touching, and personal offering from West, from the perspective of his late mother Donda, who passed away in 2007. Kanye delivers his heartbreaking lyrics over 808s & Heartbreak-style auto-tune as McCartney plays some finely tuned keys.

According to a press release, “Only One” is the first publicly available recording from the duo’s unlikely, but nevertheless exciting collaboration. Apparently Kanye and Paul recorded together last year in a Los Angeles bungalow. It began with Paul improvising on the keyboard, with West then imprivising his vocals.

It will be interesting to see if they end up releasing a full LP together. Can you imagine what a Kanye West/Paul McCartney tour could be like? I’ll keep dreaming.

Stream “Only One” below, and go grab it over at iTunes.

[music video]: Atmosphere – Kanye West

By Will Oliver, April 19th 2014

Atmosphere - Kanye West

Surprisingly Atmosphere haven’t received any complaints from Yeezus himself about titling their recent single “Kanye West” (at least that we know). The track is off their upcoming Southsiders, which is released May 6 via Rhymesayers.

They just released a wild music video featuring an unlikely couple pulling off a bunch of robberies, Bonnie and Clyde style. It’s an entertaining watch for sure.

[new]: Atmosphere – Kanye West

Atmosphere - Kanye West

Atmosphere’s new album Southsiders comes out May 6 via Rhymesayers. Lead single “Bitter” set the table, and now he’s raised it a bit with follow-up track “Kanye West.” Yes, that’s the title. I don’t know if Kanye is ok with it, but it looks like they got away with it.

Slug handles his rhymes over some fine production, definitely worthy of its Kanye West songs title.

Find “Kanye West” below.

Kanye West @ Prudential Center (February 15, 2014)

By Will Oliver, February 19th 2014 — with 1 comment

On Saturday night I trekked out with some friends to Newark, New Jersey making my first visit to the Prudential Center in order to take in a show from the always extravagant Kanye West. I saw him only a few months ago at The Garden, which was the best show that I saw in 2013. So I couldn’t possibly pass up another chance to take in a show during his Yeezus tour.

The evening was all Kanye, with no opener to delay our focus. Just like on Yeezus, Kanye kicked things off with “On Sight”, with his face completely concealed by one of his insane masks. From there on out it was a mix-and-match of songs spread throughout his incredible catalog, both old and new. Read the rest of this entry »

Bound 2 Video James Franco Seth Rogan

James Franco & Seth Rogan enjoyed Kanye West’s video for Bound 2 (featuring Kim Kardashian) so much that they got together and recreated the video, shot for shot. It’s utterly insane and ridiculous. They did it during some downtime while on set of an upcoming movie that they’re both starring in called The Interview.

Apparently even Kim/Kanye find the video funny.

It’s pretty hilarious, props to Franco/Rogan on this because they nailed the shit out of it.

Getting to see A Tribe Called Quest play their final show ever (they really seem to mean it this time) as an opening act is a pretty good deal. Kanye West invited them to open up two of his headlining shows at both Barclays and MSG, with the latter being the final show in NYC, as well as A Tribe’s last performance. It was a fell good great hits offering from the beloved Queens rap group, who left things off on the highest note possible. Read the rest of this entry »

Kanye - Bound 2 Video

Kanye West, who is busing playing some big arenas in the area right now (with two more on the way this weekend), has released a new video.

It’s for “Bound 2” and it was premiered on Ellen on Tuesday morning. It features his soon to be wife, Kim Kardashian, topless on a motorcycle, with Kanye. So if you’re at work best not to watch it as its uncensored and NSFW.
