Alex and Miles

So I’m playing a bit of catch-up here, so no need to roll your eyes and tell me this is old news. I’m sure at least one or two of you somehow missed this bit of news over the last few weeks. So this is for you.

Apparently the always loveable Alex Turner and Miles Kane, who you know as The Last Shadow Puppets, have their sights set on Hollywood. According to Digital Spy, the duo are reportedly always talking about getting the group back together for another album, but they also have plans for the movie business.

In an interview, Kane told Digital Spy that the film has “a sort of X-Men kind of vibe and sort of set in the ’60s,” but that was all that he would give away. They don’t plan on starring in the film themselves, other than a cameo.

Part of me is skeptical about it actually happening, but if it does, we can only imagine the results. Plus, it would pretty much guarantee that they would soundtrack the score themselves, so if it means new music from The Last Shadow Puppets, sign me up.

[new]: Miles Kane – Give Up

By Will Oliver, January 8th 2013

Miles Kane

Miles Kane will release a new album at some point later in the year. We don’t know the details yet, but we know it’s on the way based on the release of “Give Up”, a brand new song from Miles.

It isn’t shy at all. It starts off with an epic guitar riff that is definitely born to breathe out fully in the live setting. Apparently Paul Weller was working with Miles – possibly on this new album. If that is indeed the case, we should be looking at a pretty solid potential release.

Take a listen to “Give Up” below.

Yesterday I posted the preview of the new Arctic Monkeys b-side “Little Illusion Machine (Wirral Riddler)”, and now it’s available to stream at their facebook page.

The song features their friend Miles Kane on vocals, while the band hides behind their moniker, The Death Ramps. It’s certainly a new look for the Monkeys, and it’s sounding great. It’s a b-side so why not experiment a bit. I think it’s a great b-side that further prooves their incredible durability.

Take a listen to the song below:

Check out a sample of “Little Illusion Machine (Wirral Riddler)” which features Miles Kane and The Death Ramps. It’s the b-side for “The Hellcat Spangled Shalalala” single.

The Death Ramps is a pseudonym for the band when they released their “Death Ramps/The Nettles” 7″ single.

Note that Miles takes over vocal duties here. Cheers to Ben for the tip!

Head to the Arctic’s store to pre-order the single now.
