Sam Seeger is no stranger to this blog, the local Rockland County resident has been self-releasing a great set of tunes for some time now. Growing up in a household full of talented artists: filmmakers, painters and fellow musicians, Sam was always on his way to create something of his own in the world of music.

Over the years he’s self-released his material, getting better and better as an artist with each and every release. Today we have the distinct honor of premiering his brand new 3-song EP Doin’ It All The Time and let me tell you, it’s his finest work yet.

[new]: Sam Seeger – “It’s Alright”

By Will Oliver, September 2nd 2016

Sam Seeger

Sam Seeger has returned once again with “It’s Alright,” the latest vicious ripper of a track from Rockland County’s finest.

It’s one of Seeger’s more experimental jams to date, with some futuristic synth and electronic sounds making their way with his already signature riffs, and some chilled out 90s-minded vocals on top of it all. It’s another winner, and it has us wondering when he’s going to drop a full album of material soon.

Not only did Sam play everything on “It’s Alright” (guitar, drums, bass, drum machine, and synth) but he also recorded, mixed, and mastered it on his own. Well now I feel even more lazy about what I did today.

You can stream the track below, but if you like what you hear, head over to the track’s bandcamp page to purchase it for $1.

[new]: Sam Seeger – “What’s Happening”

By Will Oliver, August 4th 2016

Sam Seeger - What's Happening

Fellow Rockland County resident Sam Seeger has returned and blessed us with another great new song titled “What’s Happening” that is too good to ignore.

The track runs by briskly at two-minutes in length, delivering classic rock vibes and vicious guitar riffs that are complimented with the work of New Myths‘ Rosie Slater behind the drum kit. The chilled out, almost stoned vocals work well alongside the guitar solos that are just waiting to break free.

You can buy “What’s Happening” for just $1 over at Sam’s bandcamp right now, and get a taste via the stream directly below.

Premiere: Sam Seeger – “Empty Mind Man” Music Video

By Will Oliver, January 4th 2016 — with 1 comment

Sam Seeger - Empty Mind Man Video

Today I have the honor of having the exclusive premiere of Sam Seeger’s new music video for “Empty Mind Man.” The thunderous cut of garage rock is taken from Seeger’s debut solo EP Coffin Fashion, which we shared with you guys in the introducing feature on Sam that we posted last month.

The crafty and stylish video features Seeger along with drummer Rosie Slater (of New Myths) and was directed by Seeger, allowing him to perfectly capture the dirty, gritty feel of the song. Seeger swiftly proves that not only is he a talent behind the guitar, but also behind the lens (along with his brother Ben Seeger). As the director and artist himself, he’s able to capture and fine tune his aesthetic as an artist, building something memorable along the way.

Enjoy the music video below, and be sure to catch his upcoming free performance at Pete’s Candy Store next Saturday, January 16 at 8 pm and find his EP available for purchase on iTunes.

Intoducing: Sam Seeger

By Will Oliver, December 11th 2015 — with 1 comment

Sam Seeger

It’s not that often that I am able to share local artists from Rockland County, which makes me excited to share the work of Sam Seeger with you guys today. You may remember a post we did last year about his previous band Man From Glove. Since then, he’s started his journey as a solo artist, recently releasing a solo EP of his own entitled Coffin Fashion. So he’s not new to scene, but maybe his journey as a solo artist is new to you.

It doesn’t take long for Sam to impress on the EP, with opening track “Drumbeat of the Apocalypse” flashing some serious riffs, very much in the league of Jack White’s early days with The White Stripes. Second track “Empty Mind Man” is rooted in classic rock influences, but separated by the unique personal stamp that Sam is able to give each performance. “Advencha!” captures the glorious crunch of 90’s era Beck, showing Seeger’s incredible range and ability to tackle many forms of the genre with relative ease. There’s some impressive guitar work on his EP, combined with the drumming of Rosie Slater of New Myths combining to create a mature and impressive effort, one that deserves some serious attention.

The full EP is able to purchase (and stream) over at bandcamp. I’ve embeded a stream of “Drumbeat of the Apocalypse” below, as well as a cool interview clip with Sam put together by Fuck The Warm Sound. Enjoy both below.

Man From Glove may be new to you, but let’s change that. The band hails from Palisades, NY (which is my neck of the woods in Rockland County) and features Sam Seeger (guitar & vocals), Jimmy McQuade (bass) and Raza Abdullah.  Last weekend I had the pleasure of catching their performance at the Lit Lounge, and it was a good one.
