[new]: Satellite Stories – Sirens

By Will Oliver, August 17th 2012 — with 1 comment

Finland boys, Satellite Stories remind me a great deal of Two Door Cinema Club. It’s pretty much impossible not to make the comparison on their new single, “Sirens”. The clean cut futuristic guitar riffs, the eager to jump at you basslines, and the hooks. The hooks are piled on to the very top, bursting at you at rapid speed.

This isn’t a problem considering it’s a style that is so easy to love. It’s fun, catchy rock that will likely lead to subconscious humming later in the day. This is the type of stuff you will willingly overplay.

The band will release their debut album, Phrases To Break The Ice on September 21st via XYZ Music.

Satellite Stories – Family

By Will Oliver, June 27th 2011

If you know me well, you know that I love me some carefree, catchy, guitar pop. A good hook, a memorable chorus, and a tight bass riff will win me over more often than not. I love bands like Two Door Cinema Club not for innovation, but for the joyful dance grooves and general happiness that their songs bring. If you agree with that sentiment, then I think Finland’s Satellite Stories are going to be your best friends.

They just released new single “Family”, and it embraces all the things that I’ve mentioned. They don’t hold back at all on the track, making it another essential song on my summer playlist. Hooks and pop tricks are packed into every corner and pocket of “Family”, resulting in one hell of a single.

If this is your introduction to the band, you need to hear the rest of their young, but highly enjoyable arsenal. These songs aren’t leaving your heads anytime soon. Deal.
