Although Bon Iver are taking a break from performing, they have released a new song called “Heavenly Father” that appears on the soundtrack of Zach Braff’s new film, Wish I Was Here. The film was released today, but the song itself has been out for a little bit.
Any new music from Bon Iver is always a treat, and “Heavenly Father” is no different. It’s a magic journey that features all the emotional qualities that you’ve come to expect from the wizard that is Justin Vernon.
“Tiff” is a sensual new song from Minneapolis’ Poliça. They created a real sexy atmosphere that is not to be undone in anyway. It also helps that they got Justin Vernon of Bon Iver to lay down some vocals, only adding to the songs’ undeniably sexy nature. This is freaking great. Truly one of my favorite songs of 2013 so far. Am I alone?
The Gaslight Anthem covered Bon Iver’s “Skinny Love” for their new EP Hold You Up, which their releasing as a 10″ vinyl special for Record Store Day. It’s an interesting cover, as it’s Gaslight covering Bon Iver, but it works in it’s own weird way. Try it out:
Bon Iver teamed up with That Flaming Lips for the Lips’ Record Store Day release, The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends. They got together to record a weird psychedelic song called “Ashes In The Air.” Imagine Bon Iver vocals put to work with the minds of Wayne Coyne and the rest of the Lips. Exactly.
A man with an epic beard traveling through land and sea seems to fit within the world of a Bon Iver video, no? Well that’s what happens in the music video for “Towers”. Let’s hope we can all carry on strong at old age like this guy does.

Yesterday The National performed two new songs live for Toronto’s CBC Radio show Q, at the Glenn Gould Studio. Footage has arrived of them performing their High Violet album closer, “Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks” live with Justin Vernon of Bon Iver.
This is a performance that will make you look at the song from a whole new light. It’s spectacular. Having Justin Vernon on your side is always an added bonus. You want that dude on your team.
Yesterday I shared the video for Bon Iver’s “Hinnom, TX”. Now that the deluxe edition of Bon Iver is released, Bon Iver has made all of the videos from the album available to watch on their youtube page.
Get started with the always fantastic “Holocene”, posted below. The beautiful footage is example of what each video has to offer. Read the rest of this entry »

Tomorrow Bon Iver are releasing a deluxe version of their fantastic new album Bon Iver. It comes with a video that is set to accompany each track. Time premiered the video for “Hinnom, TX”, and it’s a beauty. The visuals go along so well with the music. This release isn’t extra, it’s a necessity.

Last week James Blake teased us with the idea of him collaborating with Bon Iver with something called Fall Creek Boys Choir. Originally I thought that it would be the title of their pairing, but it’s actually the title of their first song together. BBC Radio 1 premiered it an hour ago, and it’s available to listen now (of course).
Blake calls Justin Vernon of Bon Iver one of his biggest influences, and they decided to collaborate after meeting at this years SXSW Festival. They created the track this spring via e-mails. Vernon does the singing, and Blake adds his production touches.
“Fall Creek Boys Choir” will be available to purchase on iTunes next week. But for now, stream it below. It’s just as amazing as you’d hope.
