Buxton bring a great folk-rock sound straight from Houston, Texas. There’s a warm sweet melody to “Boy Of Nine”, packed with banjo picking and lush harmonies. Just listening to the song opens your eyes to a much prettier landscape than the one that your probably sitting on now.

Saturday Night Gym Club are a How To Build A Life Raft take members from both English and Ireland descent. The four friends met while studying science at university, and their mutual adoration of sound led them to forming Saturday Night Gym Club.

The band is releasing their debut EP How To Build A Life Raft via Music Cuisine on March 5th. The title track is available to stream right now. It gives you a good example of what you’ll get from these guys. Think of the smooth electronic jams that Hot Chip deliver with such ease. Colorful synth sounds cushioned with smart sensative vocals that prove to be more than enough.

The band plans to release their debut album by the end of 2012 as well. 2012 is looking like a good year for these guys.

Atlas Genius is an unsigned new band from Adelaide, Australia. “Trojans” is their first song, and what a first it is. Featuring a big clean sound, one wouldn’t be at fault for thinking of Phoenix. The guitar even sounds like its tuned straight from Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix at some parts. With a big bouncy bass-groove, this song will be stuck in your head all day, and it won’t be a bad thing. One of the lyrics is “Your trojans in my head.” It’s the truth.

It’s available to purchase on iTunes. Doubt these guys will remain unsigned for long. The band did a acoustic performance of the song for Matt Pinfield’s MTV2 show, 120 Minutes with Matt Pinfield. It’s a refreshing performance. Hit the jump for that.

London 5-piece Spector made some splashes late last year with some fantastic singles. I finally got around to checking them out, and I am definitely a fan. They focus on Fred Macpherson’s vocals, giving him room to shine over the big bombastic sound that they provide him with. It’s a grand scheme that is sort of an ode to the famed producer that they’re named after. In an odd way they sound like a mix of The Walkmen, The Killers, The Strokes, and Pulp.

In 2011 they released a few big singles (“”Never Fade Away”, “What You Wanted”, “Grey Shirt and Tie”) and played their hearts out on Jools Holland playing a Bruce Springsteen-esque song called “Chevy Thunder”. These guys are only getting started, but you can just tell that they are soon to erupt. Some bands just give off a certain energy that you know won’t be contained, Spector is certainly one of those bands. Florence & The Machine asked them to open up for her 2012 tour of the UK, and they are playing Coachella.

Woah, woah, woah. Where the hell have I been? “Milk” by London lads Theme Park is too perfect for me to have slept on. I found it via the good guys over at Make Indie Music Not Missiles and haven’t been able to stop playing it all day.

The band previously released a single called “Wax” (double a-sided single with the equally awesome “A Mountain We Love”). Theme Park have only been around since the early days of 2011, but one can easily hear the similarities between them and The Talking Heads. Only more modern influenced. Everything that I’ve heard from the band, consisting of two brothers, and schoolfriends, sounds clean and funky cool.

These guys sound cool, and it seems to come effortless. Everything about “Wax” justifies this claim. Comfortable vocals float at ease on top of simple but cool guitar riffs and a deep bass. Then you got “Milk”, a crisp jam that has the potential to be a party staple for me. Theme Park know how to right catchy songs that you will have no shame of playing to death. With Theme Park, there’s no such thing.

Theme Park are one of my favorite new acts, and are a band you are going to want to pay attention to in 2012.

The Yupps bring their music all the way from France. They sent me a song from their Life EP called “CB Song”.

It has a really accessible pop-rock sound that isn’t reinventing the wheel or anything, but it’s a song that you won’t mind hearing at any given point. Sometimes all I want is a nice sounding catchy song, and that’s exactly what you got here.

Alvin and Lyle sent me a really chill of theirs track called “The Good Feeling”. The title speaks the truth. It’s a feel good funky jam that makes retro sound really fresh. Washed out synths, deep bass and mesmerizing vocals do the trick.

Not much is known about these guys as this is literally their first release, but their soundcloud page says that they’re from Luxembourg. Their email said that they got together following encouragement from family and friends. Look out for an EP soon.

Little Racer, a 3-piece from Brooklyn are releasing their debut single via Young and Lost Club. It’s a double-A sided single featuring the songs “Split For The Coast” and “The Town”.

The first track has jangly surf rock guitars giving it a frantic feel that is all around contagious. The second A-side is “The Town” is a whimsical treat that sounds old fashioned yet refreshing. It’s one of the better tracks that I’ve heard this month, and when I say that, I mean it.

Both tracks are streaming at their bandcamp. I have a stream embeded after the jump. These are not to be missed.

Manor is the duo of Caitlin Duff, Nathaniel Morse. They hail from Adelaide, Australia, getting together in the early days of 2011. There first song is an absolute delight. Gentle vocals over comforting guitar riffs add up just right in the light pop equation.

The band is currently recording their debut full length. For now, enjoy the goodness that is “Rhodesia”. You can stream it below.

We Are Pirates are three friends (Ricardo Vieira, João Paulo Dalla and Bruno Moreira) from Brazil. They sent me a track called “Canyon” that has me thrilled with this fantastic discovery.

“Canyon” is gifted with one of the most addicting guitar riffs that you will hear all year. It features a rocking dance groove that is refreshing smooth and thrilling. For a new band these guys have got a successful formula down to pact. I’m really, really, impressed.

They describe their sound as “a way of revealing the world within their restless minds”. Take a trip into their minds and see if you’re still restless.
