Arctic Monkeys – Hold On, We’re Going Home (Drake Cover)

By Will Oliver, September 13th 2013 — with 2 comments

If there was ever a way to get me to listen to a Drake song constantly, getting Arctic Monkeys to cover it is a pretty good way to do it. They did just that when they covered Drake’s latest single, “Hold On, We’re Going Home.” They covered it live during there performance on BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge.

It’s pretty freaking good, and of course Turner throws in a “tha knows” in there for good measure. Honestly, this would have fit in perfectly on AM.

Find a video of the performance below. After that you can grab a mp3 download of the cover if you so desire.

We know the connection runs deep between Arctic Monkeys and Josh Homme of Queens Of The Stone Age (who I finally saw live) these days. So deep that Queens recently covered Arctic’s single “Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?” when they performed a session for BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge.

It’s a very loose cover that the band had fun with. These are two of my favorite bands, so this is amazing to see. Check it out below via AntiQuiet

Vampire Weekend – Blurred Lines (Robin Thicke Cover)

Vampire Weekend

Vampire Weekend had fun with their cover for BBC Radio 1’s Love Lounge as they went with Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines.” They had a good time making it and they actually make it sound like a damn good time. They don’t pass up T.I.’s verse either, taking it on in full stride.

Listen below.

The Vaccines stopped by BBC Radio1’s Live Lounge and performed their single “Teenage Icon” (listen to audio here). Bands usually choose a song to cover for their Live Lounge sessions, and The Vaccines went the pop route, choosing to cover Taylor Swift’s ” We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”. Yeah.

It’s totally tongue in cheek and pretty much sounds as described. Guess they had fun with it.

Watch/listen below.

Kasabian – Video Games (Lana Del Rey Cover)

By Will Oliver, October 28th 2011 — with 1 comment

Lana Del Rey has been remixed and covered probably more than anyone else in recent memory. It’s totally warranted. She apparently has finally officially announced that she is signed to Interscope Records, a move that shouldn’t be surprising. It is a move that’s going to keep the haters hating for her being marketing as an indie artist. That’s an argument for another day.

Kasabiant aren’t one of those haters. They recently covered “Video Games” for their BBC Live Lounge Session. It doesn’t change up the song at all, but why fix something that’s clearly not broken.

Download a mp3 of the cover and watch a video of them playing it, after the jump:
