Music Video Premiere

Only A Visitor are an art-pop quintet from Vancouver who are gearing up the release of their new album Lines on June 16. Today, they have given us the honor to premiere their brand new music video for the album’s new single and title track.

The lush song is full of colorful vocals and arrangements that are as delicate as they are soothing. Think a mix of Dirty Projectors with female led vocals as well as the shape-shifting arrangements of Grizzly Bear and Tune-Yards. The video which features many imaginative animations put together by video artist Roxanne Nesbitt is a lovely visualization of the track which winningly brings it to life in visual form.

Check out the video below, and for more information on the band, head to their website.

[U.S. Premiere]: Brass Phantoms – “Waiting Up”

By Will Oliver, February 24th 2017 — with 1 comment

It’s good to get back into the game of premieres, especially when it comes from an exciting new band from Ireland. They’re known as Brass Phantoms and although they may be new to you, they’ve already made quite the impression in their neck of the woods.

Last year they released “City Of Wolves,” a song which garnered them play on their national broadcaster RTE, eventually leading to a slot on BBC Introducing, along with various live sessions. They’re now being booked for various “Ones To Watch” showcases, and even some summer festivals playing alongside the likes of Manic Street Preachers and Tom Odell.

Today we bring you the U.S. premiere of their music video for their rather great new track “Waiting Up.” It’s a sharp and memorable piece of guitar rock that has that slick sound that reminds of early Two Door Cinema Club. The group have this rather larger than life sound that they skillfully hone in on. They toy with breaking it out in full force, but show some well appreciated restraint and keep it a tight affair, that has me addicted coming back for more.

For those of you in Ireland, they headline their own show in Dublin at The Workman’s Club on April 20. For the rest of us, keep an eye on these guys, they’re ones to watch. Enjoy the video posted below

Premiere: Sam Seeger – “Empty Mind Man” Music Video

By Will Oliver, January 4th 2016 — with 1 comment

Sam Seeger - Empty Mind Man Video

Today I have the honor of having the exclusive premiere of Sam Seeger’s new music video for “Empty Mind Man.” The thunderous cut of garage rock is taken from Seeger’s debut solo EP Coffin Fashion, which we shared with you guys in the introducing feature on Sam that we posted last month.

The crafty and stylish video features Seeger along with drummer Rosie Slater (of New Myths) and was directed by Seeger, allowing him to perfectly capture the dirty, gritty feel of the song. Seeger swiftly proves that not only is he a talent behind the guitar, but also behind the lens (along with his brother Ben Seeger). As the director and artist himself, he’s able to capture and fine tune his aesthetic as an artist, building something memorable along the way.

Enjoy the music video below, and be sure to catch his upcoming free performance at Pete’s Candy Store next Saturday, January 16 at 8 pm and find his EP available for purchase on iTunes.

All Boy:All Girl - Lion

In March, New York septet All Boy/All Girl released a limited edition EP entitled Trophy via Grind Select Records (stream it on bandcamp), full of chamber pop songs that experiment with folk, avant-garde jazz and orchestral indie rock.

One of these songs is called “Lion,” a beautiful song about “a pursuit of greatness, and how that pursuit can be alienating. The lion stands in as a metaphor for the power hungry politician or the greedy wall street banker, who finds that the view from the top is a lonely one.” It’s a haunting track that lingers with you during and long after your listen.

Today we have the honor of premiering their brand new music video for “Lion” with you guys exclusively. Shot in black and white by director Sara Montironi, it’s a wonderful accompaniment for the song, with some of the best cinematography you’ll find from a music video all year.

Enjoy the “Lion” music video. which you can find posted below, along with the band’s upcoming tour dates:
