You’re Dead! is a shamanic pilgrimage into the psychedelic unknown of the infinite afterlife. A sonic, visual and metaphysical fusion of technological innovation and technical virtuosity that amounts to a transcendent, mind-expanding plasm that could only exist between our world and another.

Interpol Announce New Album: ‘El Pintor’

By Will Oliver, June 5th 2014

Interpol - El Pintor

With their headline spot at Governors Ball this weekend, now is a good time for Interpol to announce news of their new album. It’s titled El Pintor and will be released sometime this September via Matador. Hopefully they will play plenty of the new material over the weekend, as they did in England this March, where they played “My Desire”, “Anywhere” and “All The Rage Back Home.”

Here’s the message that Matador shared about the album today on the Matablog:

On September 9, we’ll be releasing INTERPOL‘s first new album in 4 years, ‘El Pintor’ on LP, compact disc and all digital formats in North, Central and South America (PIAS/Co-op will be handling the rest of the world). Recorded at Electric Lady Studios and Atomic Sound in New York City with engineer James Brown, the band’s fifth album – taut and epic in equal measure – finds Interpol recharged, and ready to reclaim their mantle as one of the planet’s best. ‘El Pintor’’s songs (track listing below) were written and produced by Interpol, with Daniel Kessler playing guitar & piano, Samuel Fogarino on drums, and Paul Banks on vocals, guitars, and taking over bass duties for the first time. The album also features contributions from The Secret Machines’ Brandon Curtis (keyboards), Roger Joseph Manning, Jr. (Beck, Air) playing keyboards on “Tidal Wave,” and Rob Moose (Bon Iver) playing violin and viola on “Twice as Hard.” ‘El Pintor’ was mixed by Alan Moulder at Assault and Battery Studios, and mastered by Greg Calbi.

Interestingly Paul Banks will handle bass duties for the first time.

They’ve shared a making of video/trailer, which Adam Levite directed. There’s some short clips of new material included. Find that below, along with the El Pintor tracklist. Read the rest of this entry »

Foo Fighters Will Release New Album In November

By Will Oliver, June 3rd 2014

Foo Fighters

Foo Fighters have announced that their new album will be released this November. It’s currently untitled, but will be released via Roswell/RCA. It was recorded in eight different cities (New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Austin, Washington, D.C., Nashville, New Orleans, and Seattle).

That aspect ties into the band’s HBO series: Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways, which documents the recording of the album through the various cities.  The album, the bands eighth, is their most ambitious yet; with at least one song from the album having been recorded in each of the cities, with local legends of the city sitting in on the sessions. Dave Grohl would hold off from putting down words to the songs until the final day of each session, in order to write lyrics inspired by the experiences.

HBO has released a teaser for the series, which features a sample of a new song that we can only assume is from the album. Find that below. Read the rest of this entry »

Beck Releases Morning Phase Trailer | Previews New Song: “Blue Moon”

By Will Oliver, January 17th 2014 — with 1 comment

Beck - Morning Phase

Beck’s new album Morning Phase comes out February 25 via Capitol Records. That’s the album art above.

We’ve yet to hear any recorded music from the new album yet, but today he’s shared a trailer for the album that features a clip of a song from the album titled “Blue Moon.”

It definitely has a Sea Change feel with a heavily present acoustic guitar, but there is also great use of electronics to give it a really pretty sound.

Take a listen to the new track and enjoy the video which shows the new record getting pressed. The video is posted below.

Damon Albarn Teases Solo Album

By Will Oliver, December 17th 2013

Damon Albarn

With all of Damon Albarn‘s musical projects, it’s hard to believe that he hasn’t released a proper solo album yet. But that will change in 2014, as he has hinted in a short album teaser just released a few days ago.

The teaser briefly shows Albarn at a piano, as a piano-led track with some electronic beats plays over. It’s a quick blip of a sample, but it’s sounding good.

Can’t wait to see what he has in store for us.

Check out the teaser below. Read the rest of this entry »

Cloud Nothings Release Trailer For New Album

By Will Oliver, December 5th 2013

Cloud Nothings

Cloud Nothings have released a short video trailer for their new album, which is due out sometime in 2014. The band shared a link to the trailer yesterday on their FB page. The trailer features some new material playing over footage of them in the recording studio.

Based on the short samples that we get to hear in the trailer, the album sounds like a continuation of the direction that they took on 2012’s awesome Attack On Memory.

Check out the trailer below.
