Diarrhea Planet @ Glasslands (November 9, 2013)

By happenstance I stumbled into Diarrhea Planet’s set at Made In America this summer and I’ve been sold ever since. Their lively rapturous energy easily takes over a room when they play, and that’s exactly what they did on Saturday night at Glasslands in Brooklyn.

Diarrhea Planet are a 6-piece, garage rock band, from Nashville, Tennesse. With a stagger 4 guitarists, they know a thing or two about rocking out strong. They had the tiny Glasslands filled to the very brim with everyone on the floor moshing into one another, or propelling each other into the land of crowd surfers. There was plenty of sweat, and possibly blood, on the floor by the time that they were done. They played plenty off cuts off of this year’s album, I’m Rich Beyond Your Wildest Dreams. Including standouts like “Kids” and “Seperation.” Stream the latter track below.

If you’re looking for a good old fashioned rock and roll show with plenty of garage rock antics, go check out Diarrhea Planet. You won’t be disappointed.

They said they will be back in NYC sometime in December. I’ll just have to check it out. Find some more photos from their set below. Read the rest of this entry »

Diarrhea Planet @ Made In America (9/1/2013)

I heard a song of Diarrhea Planet’s randomly the other day and liked how it fast paced and grungy guitar rock, but also had a pop aspect hidden deep within. Little did I know that they were playing at Made In America until I got there. I saw I had a gap in my schedule when they were playing and decided to check them out with no expectations. Holy crap, these guys were one of my favorite acts of the entire fest. They certainly were the must fun.

Instantly your drawn in by the glorious noise that the Nashville, Tennessee band creates with an insane 4 guitarists. It’s like a blitz on your brain and you have nothing else to do but just let it take over your mind, body, and soul. To cut the bullshit, these guys flat out rock. I had so much fun watching their set, I will make it a point to encourage everyone and anyone to go see these guys live. You won’t regret it.

They recently released their new album I’m Rich Beyond Your Wildest Dreams, via Nashville’s Infinity Cat Recordings. It’s something I instantly got my hands on, and I recommend you all do the same. Sure their name may be ridiculously stupid, but these guys are stupidly good, and worth the sacrifice of having the word diarrhea constantly show up on your iPod.

Favorite Live Photos of 2016

By Will Oliver, January 26th 2017

Sleigh Bells at Le Poisson Rouge (September 8)

In 2016 we opened our doors and expanded our small team to include more contributing photographers than ever before. As a result, we have a lot of content that we are proud of, and wanted to take a look back at some of our favorite live music photographs taken throughout 2016. Thanks to our entire team for all of their incredible efforts. There’s so much great music happening year round, it’s truly amazing how much of it we were able to be a part of in some way, no matter how small.

So with that, here’s an absolute giant gallery of our favorite photos of 2016 taken in chronologic order:

We All Want Someone’s Best Shows Of 2015

Blur at MSG

I lost count of how many shows I went to in 2015, but I’m pretty sure I managed to top the amount of shows I went to in 2014, which was a previous record.

You’ll notice a good chunk of the shows that made the cut are established artists playing intimate venues such as Baby’s All Right or Bowery Ballroom. Nothing quite matches getting to see big acts in a great small venue. That’s not to say that a show at a large venue can’t be good, as plenty of big bands playing large venues or dare I say arenas ended up on here as well. There’s a lot of ingredients to a good show, and I don’t discriminate..

Below, find my top 40 shows of 2015 and feel free to click through to each individual show recap to re-live them along with me. We can’t wait to see what 2016 brings to us. All I know is it will be tough to match what I saw in 2015.

Favorite Live Photos of 2015

(Blur at Madison Square Garden)

2015 was one hell of a year for music. Naturally, there were a ton of great shows to be found. We saw as many as ever last year, and we look to attend even more shows in 2016. With that said, we’re finally giving a look back to 2015, selecting some of our favorite moments from the year.

Along with my small but trustworthy team of friends who happen to also be photographers, we took hundreds if not thousands of photos last year. I went through the ever-growing archives and selected just a handful of favorite photos taken throughout the year. It was hard and nearly impossible to narrow it down, but here are just some of my favorite photos that we shared on this blog in 2015, in chronological order taken throughout the year. If not taken by me, credit is given along with the posted caption below the photo.

There was no shortage of great shows to be found in 2014. You can find the best 50 that I saw in 2014 right here. Throughout the year, we took thousands upon thousands of photos, documenting every moment of these unforgettable shows. We put in a lot of work trying to capture the essence of these performances, and I wanted to share these photos with you in one giant collection.

These are not only photos that I took, but also photos taken by our great team of contributing photographers. They’re posted in chronological order, as there was simply no other right way to go about ordering the photos. Below each photo, is the link to the original post, as well as the photographer credit (if it’s other than myself).

So with that said, sit back, and enjoy our favorite live concert photos that we took in 2014. You can also find the gallery posted over at our facebook page. There’s probably one too many photos posted here, but we probably saw way too many shows.

Governors Ball 2014 Best Photos and Recap

By Will Oliver, June 18th 2014

IMG_0944

Governors Ball 2014 came and went, and it was a great one for the books. How could you not love it this year? The weekend was completely free of rain and you could actually walk without your feet sinking into a dark muddy abyss. It was perfect.

Musically, the lineup was great. From top to bottom, Governors showcased a balanced lineup that featured something for everyone. 2000s rock fans especially, as we saw great performances from The Strokes, Interpol, Spoon, and TV On The Radio. There were also classic sets from legends such as Jack White, Damon Albarn, and of course, Outkast.

It’s about time that New York City has a major music festival that fans can rely on, year in, and year out. They’ve proven that they know how to book their lineups and can be trusted to deliver a great 3-day weekend each year. It’s become a major player in the festival circuit, and looks to only get bigger over time. I can’t wait to see what the future brings for it.

Below, I’ve ranked the top 10 sets I saw at Governors Ball, in addition to a day by day link catch-up style recap where you can check out the individual posts and photos. I’ve also shared my favorite photos that I took from the weekend. Enjoy! Read the rest of this entry »

Arctic Monkeys @ Ogden Theater

By no means am I a professional photographer. I don’t pretend to be. I know I have a lot of work and learning to do to improve and get better. But thanks to this blog, I’ve gotten better at it than I ever imagined I would be when I first started it five years ago.

I went to a lot of shows this year, and took a lot of shots. So many, that it would seem like a waste if I didn’t compile some of the best ones for your viewing pleasure.

I also added some of my favorite shots from some of our new team of contributing photographers, Andrew St. ClairDana Pacifico, Daniel Topete and Leah Runyon. All photos without a photo credit were taken by yours truly.

With that said, enjoy some of the favorite shots that appeared on We All Want Someone in 2013. Here’s to more great shots in 2014. Read the rest of this entry »

Best Songs Of 2013

Best Songs Of 2013

Thanks to Camilo Bejarano for the artwork as usual

This year I pushed the limit on publishing my best songs list with a day to spare. I think that patience has all but been lost with list making these days, but time is something I can never get enough of. I need as much time as possible to sort through the wide plethora of music that graced my ears this year.

With albums it’s tough to honor all the stuff you loved as eventually a few will get pushed out of the fold. But with a best songs list, you have more of a chance to highlight a well rounded collection of music that really defined your year. There’s a wide collection of songs here that I’m really proud to share because it’s a pretty wide collection of songs that I hope is all balanced as I thought it was. I try and keep an open mind and embrace anything that sounds good to me. I think this year was a good year for music, but also a good one to be a music listener, which is truly exciting.

You can find my list below, as well as a spotify link right here, and a stream that’s shared at the very tail end of the post.
