Foxygen - And Star Power

Foxygen had a wild 2013, one that most people will remember for all the drama that the band endured. Unfortunately all that seemed to overshadow the fact that they released We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic, an album that landed on my best albums of 2013 list.

I assumed it would be a while before we heard new music from the guys, but that’s far from the case. They’ve announced that they got a new album on the way, and it’s an epic. It’s called …And Star Power and features 24-tracks, running at a lengthy 82-minutes. Wow.

The promotional image for the album (seen above) describes the album as follows:

A svelte 82-minute run time of psych-ward folk, cartoon fantasia, soft-rock indulgences, D&D doomrock and paranoid bathroom rompers / a cinematic auditory adventure for speedy freaks, skull krunchers, abductees and misfits.

The announcement also came with a video for new song and first single “How Can You Really.” The video is directed by Grant Singer, and features singer Sam France causing trouble in an office, while also rocking out with the band, which seems to feature a totally revamped lineup. It’s a smooth jam, a solid return offering from the group. Find it posted below, along with the album’s tracklist and some new tour dates.
