Archive for the ‘Dizzee Rascal’ tag

D Double E’s new single “Bluku! Bluku!” features Dizzee Rascal on the grime inspired track. It reminds me of his earlier days on the grime scene, instead of the poppier sound that he has taken as of late. So if you’re a fan of Dizze’s older stuff, this track is for you.

This one has just enough of a pop sound mixed within the grime to create something catchy and effective. Dizzee’s sounds like he’s back in form on his short, buy highly enjoyable verse. Check out below and head to iTunes. if you’re really feeling it.

[new] Dizzee Rascal – Dirtee Disco (Radio Rip)

By Will, April 22nd 2010 — with 6 comments

A radio riphas surfaced of Dizzee Rascal‘s new single “Dirtee Disco”. The song was premiered on Radio 1 the other day, and the song was able to cross through all the volcanic ash to make it to my headphones. Dizzie brings out all of his disco influences on this one and lets loose. Danie Pierce is the featured vocalist only adding to the disco feel. This one is ridiculous fun. Dizze is letting loose making the most out of the tight 80′s beat he has crafted. You can tell it’s a radio rip because of a personal introduction to the song from Dizze himself. However, the quality is not bad at all. I believe it is gonna be a track that he added when he re-releases 2009′s Tongue ‘n’ Cheek this summer. The single is officially out May 24th.

This one is ridiculously hot. Please don’t miss out on it.

[NEW] Dizzee Rascal – Holiday (Feat. Chrome)

By Will, July 2nd 2009 — with 2 comments

Dizzee Rascal is a very unique british rapper, to say the least. I have to admit, there are times that I cannot understand a word that he says. With that said, I would rather listen to him then pretty much any rapper that is dominating the top 40 charts these days.

Zane Lowe debuted Dizzee’s new song “Holiday” the other day, praising it to death. The song features Chrome, and was produced by Calvin Harris. Therefore, it is very dancey/pop friendly. This is a very different sound from the “grime rap” sound that he trademarked on albums like Boy In Da Corner. The same album that won him the Mercury Prize back in ’03!

I’m sure that it will do very well on the British radio charts, but I am not sure how the “scene” will react to it. I think it is a pretty catchy song, but I am not completely sold on this direction Dizzee has taken. Will people see this as a more fun side of Dizzee, or him selling out for a more…mainstream direction? It follows the sound of Bonkers, making me wonder if he is completely walking away from his old style. They are both songs off his next album Tongue ‘n’ Cheek.

I got a low quality radio rip from the show for you guys to get some idea for now. I’d love to hear your thoughts, cause my mind isn’t quite made up yet.

Influence me?

Dizzee Rascal : New Album + Bonkers/Remix!!

By Will, April 22nd 2009 — with 9 comments

Dizzee Rascal truly is a unique artist. He is a British rapper who is known for his hard to understand vocals, and killer beats. His debut album Boy In Da Corner is one of the critically acclaimed albums of the decade. Two albums later he has still kept his success going, even working with the Arctic Monkeys. Some people are worried that he is going to be unable to continue his success. I guess we will have to wait until Fall to see. The Rascal is set to release his 4th album Tongue ‘n’ Cheek sometime around September.

He dropped a single with Armand Van Helden called ‘Bonkers’ that has club hit potential. The song didn’t impress too many critics or bloggers though. Some people liked the remix done like Doorly better because of its dubstep nature. Well I got both of them for you so you be the judge:
