Phoenix have become one of the biggest bands around period. Their success is 100% well deserved. I couldn’t be happier to find out that a Phoenix documentary is on the way. On October 13 a documentary about the band called, From A Mess To The Masses, will be released.

Director Antoine Wagner, who directed the music video for “Lisztomania”, filmed the bands humongous Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix , tour and the result of all that will be the 52 minute documentary.

The film will hit on the Arte television network in France/Germany on October 13. Here’s to hoping someone is cool enough to upload it for the rest of us right after.

A documentary about Phoenix is certainly one of the coolest things that I have heard all week. Check out the trailer below:

[mp3]: Phoenix – Love Like A Sunset Part 3

By Will, October 12th 2010 — with 1 comment

I just remembered that I’m seeing Phoenix this Sunday at Cornell University. I’m so excited to once again relive the amazing live experience that they deliver. I also forgot to post “Love Like A Sunset Part 3″, which is pretty much a remix of part 2. The band gave it away for free if you retweeted a tweet about their upcoming MSG show.

Can’t believe how big these guys have gotten, but I’m damn proud.

Grab part 3 below:

Phoenix Play NPR Tiny Desk Concert

By Will, May 19th 2010 — with 1 comment

Phoenix stopped by the NPR offices to play for their Tiny Desk Series. The french kings played an intimate set that included Lisztomania, Armistice, 1901, and a cover of Air’s “Playground Love”. It was really cool to see the band in such a small setting. They seem like really genuine guys who love what they do.

Watch the performance right here.

PS22 Children’s Choir Covers Lisztomania

By Will, March 8th 2010 — with 1 comment

I wish I had this experience when I was a young lad, getting to cover a Phoenix song when you were a kid? How bad-ass is that? I want to give this music teacher a hug!

The chorus has their own blog. Phoenix even showed their approval of the gorgeous cover.

EPIC Phoenix Performance In Vancouver

By Will, February 9th 2010 — with 2 comments

Phoenix deliver an epic performance of “If I Ever Feel Better” & “1901″ at their show in Vancouver. They let the crowd storm the stage, and continued to play throughout. This is a classic performance, that deserves to be seen!

I really wish that we did this at their Central Park show…. Next NYC show, lets do it!!!!

Snooki Interviews Phoenix!

By Will, February 4th 2010 — with 4 comments

(from Phoenix’s blog)

What? Yeah Jersey Shore’s very own star Snooki interviewed Phoenix today. I won’t lie the Jersey Shore hooked me in like everyone else. It was one of the better reality shows in a long time!

MTV had Snooki at the Grammy’s to interview our favorite French band Phoenix at the Grammys. Snook’s asked the band if they know what a guido are, and says that the bands guitarists looks like Edward from Twilight….sure…

I would also like to take this time to congratulate the boys of Phoenix for their Grammy Win for Best Alternative Album. They totally deserved it!!!!

Watch the short interview below:

Best Albums Of 2009

By Will, January 31st 2010 — with 5 comments

It’s January 31st, and I am pretty sick right now. I have been pushing aside doing write ups for my top albums of 2009. I just haven’t been able to find the time. It is late January and I am just getting my list out now. The blurbs would feel forced if I got them out by today, so I decided not to force the issue and to just give you the list without blurbs.

2009 was a pretty good year in music overall. I spent countless hours with these albums making great memories with my friends, and rocking out to them blasting away in my room or my car. These were the finest albums in my mind, and 2009 would not have been the same without them.

We started it off strong with Animal Collectives MPP, and I thought it would be my #1 for sure. Then Grizzly Bear came knocking with Veckatimest. I thought for sure those would be my 1 and 2. However, the Arctic Monkeys came back darker and recharged the fanboy within me. However, Phoenix came out of no where to deliver one of the finest albums of 2009, blowing the competition out of the water. We had very solid debuts with The XX, Local Natives, and Passion Pit, along with stunning albums from the likes of The Antlers, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart.

So without anymore hesitation here are my 25 favorite albums of 2009:

25. The Dodos – Time To Die

24. The Horrors – Primary Colours

23. Doves – Kingdom Of Rust

22. Lily Allen – It’s Not Me, It’s You

21. Handsome Furs – Face Control

20. Florence + The Machine – Lungs

19. Neon Indian – Psychic Chasms

18. Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros – Up From Below

17. Julian Casablancas – Phrazes For The Young

16. Harlem Shakes – Technicolor Health

15. Discovery – LP

14. Dirty Projectors – Bitte Orca

13. Franz Ferdinand – Tonight: Franz Ferdinand

12. Freelance Whales – Weathervanes

11. Girls – Album

10. The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart – The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart

9. Yeah Yeah Yeahs – It’s Blitz!

8. Local Natives – Gorilla Manor

7. Passion Pit – Manners

6. The Antlers – Hospice

5. The xx – xx

4. Grizzly Bear – Veckatimest

3. Arctic Monkeys – Humbug

2. Animal Collective – Merriweather Post Pavilion

1. Phoenix – Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix
